Zelenskyy Reveals Scale of Russian Attack: Over 70 Missiles and 650 Drones Used, Casualties Reported.
Russia's June 2, 2023 Assault on Ukraine
According to UATV: On June 2, 2023, marking the 1,560th day of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed details of a massive Russian offensive involving more than 70 missiles and 650 drones. The attacks left 130 people injured and claimed 22 lives, including two children. Strikes hit major cities such as Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernihiv, as well as the Sumy, Kherson, and Poltava regions. This escalation underscores the ongoing devastation faced by civilian populations across Ukraine.
Critical Role of International Support
Zelenskyy emphasized that none of these weapons could be produced without foreign-made components. For instance, five Kalibr cruise missiles require 145 parts, while 33 Iskander missiles need 1,122 components. Additionally, the 650 attack drones depend on over 17,000 parts sourced from abroad.
'It is crucial that partners also take action, and act decisively.'Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The president stressed the need to create obstacles for Russia, making it harder for them to destroy others' lives. He noted that after the massive strike, hundreds of people in Kyiv, Dnipro, and other cities continued working, showcasing the resilience and determination of the Ukrainian people. This report highlights the persistent threat from Russia and the impact of its military operations on Ukrainian society. Zelenskyy's call for international support reflects the urgent need for global coordination to counter aggression, while the steadfastness of Ukrainians—who persist in their daily lives even under attack—illustrates their resolve and strength as a defining feature of national identity during wartime.
