Four Years Since Bucha Was Freed

According to UATV: On March 31, 2022, Ukraine marked the fourth anniversary of Bucha’s liberation from Russian occupying forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska paid tribute to the Ukrainian victims by placing memorial lamps at the site of the Church of Saint Andrew the First-Called.

Bucha endured 33 days under occupation, from February 27 to March 31, 2022. During that time, 561 civilians lost their lives, including 12 children. These devastating losses have come to symbolize the horrors inflicted by military aggression on Ukrainian soil. In his address, President Zelenskyy underscored the necessity of accountability:

“Every Russian murderer, executioner, and terrorist must answer for every crime committed against our people.” — Volodymyr Zelenskyy

International Solidarity with Ukraine

On the same day, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and several EU member state ministers arrived in Kyiv, reaffirming their commitment to Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty and security. These events serve as a powerful reminder of the heavy price Ukraine has paid for its freedom.

The anniversary of Bucha’s liberation highlights not only the tragic human toll but also the resilience of the Ukrainian people in the face of aggression. The visit by European diplomats underscores the critical role of international support during this pivotal period, which could shape future diplomatic efforts and the aid Ukraine receives in its pursuit of peace and security.
