During UK Visit, Zelenskyy Unveils Plan to Safeguard Critical Infrastructure.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy Addresses the British Parliament
According to UATV: On March 17, 2023, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a speech before the UK Parliament, offering to share his country's expertise in maritime security. He stressed that Ukrainian specialists are ready to help bolster security along Europe's coastlines, including at British military installations in Cyprus. Ukraine has gained significant experience in developing and deploying naval drones, which could play a key role in strengthening regional defense.
Breakthroughs in Naval Security
Zelenskyy explained that Ukraine started with simple kamikaze sea drones and has since advanced to systems capable of shooting down Russian fighter jets from the sea. He emphasized that Ukrainian experts are prepared to:
- deploy interception units;
- install radar systems;
- set up acoustic monitoring arrays.
'All of this would work,' stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President also noted that despite lacking a large navy, Ukraine succeeded in 'pushing what remains of the Russian fleet deeper into the Black Sea bay.'
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is currently developing more durable drones capable of longer and more effective operations at sea. These innovations could become a crucial factor in enhancing maritime security across the region and in cooperation with allies like the United Kingdom. The announced initiatives signal Ukraine's readiness to actively contribute to maritime security and share its expertise with the international community.
Zelenskyy's address to the British Parliament underscores the strategic importance of security cooperation between Ukraine and its Western partners. Ongoing instability in the Black Sea continues to raise concerns about regional stability, and Ukraine's offer to provide its technology and know-how could mark a significant step in strengthening not only its own defenses but also those of other European nations. It also reflects how Ukrainian military strategies are evolving to meet new challenges in the global security landscape.
