Ukraine Targets Russian Paralympians and Iranian Firms in New Sanctions Wave.
Expanded Restrictions on Moscow
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed decrees imposing fresh sanctions on Russia, targeting Paralympic athletes who justify Moscow's aggression as well as Iranian companies. The measures affect 130 individuals and 48 entities linked to Russia's military-industrial complex. This move comes as part of Kyiv's broader strategy to isolate Russia economically and politically amid the ongoing war.
The newly imposed restrictions apply to both Russian and Iranian firms servicing Russia's defense sector. Among those blacklisted are ten Russian Paralympians whom Ukrainian authorities accuse of endorsing Moscow's hostile policies. These sanctions represent another tool in Ukraine's efforts to escalate international pressure on the Kremlin.
EU Extends Its Own Sanctions
Separately, the Council of the European Union has prolonged its sanctions against Russia until September 15. Currently, over 2,700 individuals and entities are under EU restrictions, highlighting the sustained and serious nature of the global response to Russian actions. Zelensky's latest sanctions further reinforce Ukraine's push to defend its interests on the world stage.
