Strike on a Russian Fighter Jet

According to UATV: On the night of June 25–26, Ukrainian forces targeted a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet stationed at the Belbek airbase in temporarily occupied Crimea. The operation was carried out by personnel from the Unmanned Systems Department of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (GUR). The attack also destroyed a launcher that serviced the Russian aircraft.

Preliminary estimates suggest the damage inflicted on the occupiers could amount to tens of millions of dollars. This mission marks another example of Ukrainian military operations aimed at degrading Russian capabilities in occupied territories. This news was published on July 4.

Significance of the Operation

This event highlights Ukraine’s growing ability to conduct precision strikes against enemy military assets, potentially shifting the battlefield dynamics in the region. The destruction of critical resources like fighter jets and launch systems carries strategic weight—it weakens Russia’s military foothold in occupied Crimea and bolsters Ukraine’s defensive efforts.
