As part of his visit to Ukraine, the high representative of the EU Josep Borrell visited the village of Yahidne in the Chernihiv region, which suffered from Russian occupation. He reported this on social media.

In Yahidne, the Russian occupiers held an entire village - 370 people - in a school basement on an area of 170 m2. This severe ordeal reminds of the darkest days of European history. It is a gruesome reminder of what life under Russian occupation looks like for ordinary Ukrainians,» wrote Borrell.

He also added that this event is a horrific reminder of what life looks like for ordinary Ukrainians under Russian occupation.

Recall, on November 9, Josep Borrell arrived in Ukraine. This is his fifth visit following Russia's full-scale invasion. Borrell stated that this is his last visit to Kyiv as the high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy. «The EU's support for Ukraine has been my personal priority throughout my mandate and will remain at the top of the EU agenda,» he noted.
