Journalist Ostap Yarysh noted that his dismissal from the Ukrainian service of 'Voice of America' was a result of reductions in federal employees according to the policy of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He also pointed out that Elon Musk heads this department. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Yarysh's page on Facebook.

Yarysh stated that his dismissal affected many structures, including 'Voice of America', which receive funding from the U.S. federal budget.

He also added that he did not delve into the details of American bureaucracy, but he belonged to the less protected category. He also noted that several other journalists from the language services of 'Voice of America' were also dismissed.
The decision to end cooperation was made by the new leadership of the agency for global media, to which 'Voice of America' belongs, taking into account the recommendations of DOGE. The reason for the journalist's dismissal, stated in the letter, was the unspecified importance of his work for the organization. Yarysh stated that he was unaware of other motives for such a decision.

Recall that Ostap Yarysh, a journalist of the Ukrainian service of 'Voice of America', was dismissed by the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk. The New York Times also reported that the human resources department of 'Voice of America' is conducting an internal investigation regarding journalists who criticize U.S. President Donald Trump in their materials.
