According to inkorr.com: Maxim Kharkin, a native of Donbas who recently returned from captivity in the Gaza Strip, expressed his desire to obtain Russian citizenship. His mother, Natalia Kharkina, noted:
“We will definitely do this. He really wants a Russian passport. He has always wanted it.”She also added that before his abduction, the process of obtaining citizenship was complicated, but now they plan to go to Russia together. However, the exact date of the trip has not yet been determined due to Maxim's health problems, as he lost over 30 kg during his captivity.
Assistance and gratitude
“The family of the freed man wants to thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for his assistance in the release. They believe that it was Putin who helped their son survive.”
Maxim was born in Ukrainian Donetsk, but at the time of his capture by militants, he was already living in Israel. He was released as part of an agreement reached between Hamas and Israel.
Thus, Maxim Kharkin, although he has Ukrainian roots, has lived in Israel for a long time. His family expresses gratitude to Vladimir Putin for the help that contributed to their son's survival in the harsh conditions of captivity.
