Vikings have arrived in London

According to The Sun: Officially, the Vikings have come to London. A massive ship named Saga Farmann has sailed up the Thames and is now docked in the capital, where it can be visited for free.

The ship passed under Tower Bridge and will be in London until Sunday, August 7.

The vessel Saga Farmann, a modern reconstruction of a Viking longship from 998, is 20 meters long. From today it is docked at St Katharine Docks and is open for visits from the evening of August 27 to Sunday, September 7. The only time the ship will be closed is on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Visitors can learn more about the ship and its history. The last days of its stay in London will coincide with the Classic Boat festival, which will take place on September 6 and 7, where Saga Farmann will be the main attraction among 50 other historical vessels, including Dunkirk Little Ships and barges on the Thames.

This visit to London is just part of the ship's journey, which has been retracing old Viking trade routes across Europe for the past few years. The crew set sail in 2023 from Tonsberg, Norway, and has already visited the Aegean, Adriatic, and Black Seas.

London is the final stop for the crew of Saga Farmann. The ship is as authentic as possible, but it has four electric motors to aid navigation and is transported not by hand, as in ancient times, but by trucks.

New Viking-themed attractions

For those looking for even more Viking entertainment, Paultons Park plans to open a new attraction called Valgard – Realm of the Vikings, which will offer a Viking-themed world, including a village and the park's first inverted roller coaster.

The Drakon ride promises to be the most popular with a vertical lift and two inversions. There will also be a Vild Swing, which will lift visitors 12 meters up, along with new attractions. The well-known Cobra ride will be transformed into a bobsled adventure with a new name Raven, reflecting the Viking theme.

The ship will be docked in London for over a week, and visiting it is free.

The visit of Saga Farmann not only showcases the historical aspect of the Vikings but also draws attention to traditional seafaring, which continues to delight modern visitors. The scheduled Classic Boat festival provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the cultural heritage of the Vikings and attracts history and water transport enthusiasts.

This event also reflects the interest in Viking themes in culture, which contributes to the further development of tourist attractions in London and beyond.
