New 25th Anniversary of the show 'A Place in the Sun'

When asked where Britons should best buy a holiday home, all the hosts gave the same answer. Laura Hamilton, who has been on the show since 2012, noted:

“There are still a few places in Spain that are excellent for investment, especially in the Costa Tropical area.”

Laura explained that this area continues to increase in price and is significantly cheaper than Malaga or Marbella. According to her, restaurant and bar prices here are lower, but the quality remains high.

Costa Tropical offers both access to the mountains and the beach; the mountain base Sierra Nevada can be reached in just an hour and a half.

“I love this part of Spain, the landscapes around Granada are stunning. If you love beaches, skiing, and hiking, it is a true gem – although prices are starting to rise.”

Host Craig Rowe also recommends the southern region of Spain:

“Costa Almeria in Spain is really attractive, especially for those on a budget.”

Craig emphasized that this area is still underdeveloped, so flight options are rare, but it may become more popular in the future.

Popular cities

When Sun Travel reached out to Zhanna Johansson, she also noted the advantages of southern Spain:

“It has to be Murcia and southern Spain, as there are still good deals to be found there.”

Zhanna pointed out that the opening of the airport in Murcia has made the region more well-known, thanks to new infrastructure and improved gastronomic offers.

From the UK to Murcia, one can travel for as little as £15, and a two-bedroom apartment in the Murcia or Almeria region costs approximately £100-120k.

New episodes of 'A Place in the Sun' start on Monday, October 13 at 6:00 PM on Channel 4, and will also be available for on-demand viewing.
