SBU uncovered an FSB agent in Sumy region: sentenced to 15 years.

According to ТСН: A court in Ukraine sentenced a Russian FSB agent who tried to get a job in the Sumy regional military administration. His task was to collect and transmit secret information about the border region's defense system to the enemy.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained the Russian agent in Sumy region in 2023. During the investigation, it became known that he sought to work in the Defense Management of the Sumy OVA to carry out subversive activities in a government institution.

“In the case of infiltration, the 'mole' was to collect and transmit secret information about the defense system of the border region to the Rashists,”

— noted the SBU.

The counterintelligence successfully exposed the agent and detained him near the OVA building. It turned out that he was a local resident of Sumy who agreed to work for the FSB for money. The Russian special service initially tested his abilities in gathering information about the disposition of the Defense Forces in the Sumy region. He also collected personal data of local law enforcement officers and their families for further use in recruitment and information sabotage.

Later, his task became to secure an entry-level position in the defense management of the Sumy OVA.

During a search of his home, a Russian passport and smartphones were found, through which he maintained contact with the enemy.

The court found the agent guilty of treason in conditions of martial law and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with property confiscation.

This case is not isolated: earlier in Ukraine, another Russian agent was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with property confiscation for carrying out tasks for the Russian Special Operations Forces in Kyiv region. The agent was detained while preparing to blow up a local TOC.

The verdict regarding the FSB agent underscores the active efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in exposing hostile elements on the territory of the country. At this time, the fight against Russian aggression continues, and security services focus on preventing potential threats. This case highlights the importance of the operational work of the SBU and counterintelligence.
