HUR staged the death of the RDK commander: the Russians paid half a million dollars.
According to ТСН: The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine published a video of a unique special operation during which the death of RDK commander Denis Kapustin, call sign White Rex, was staged. The Russian special services not only believed in this fake death but also paid a significant amount to the Ukrainian intelligence.
In order to ensure Kapustin's safety and uncover the hostile intelligence network, Ukrainian military conducted a complex multi-stage operation in which his death was staged.
To support the legend, specialists created a video featuring two strike drones. The first drone attacked the minibus where Kapustin was located, and the second UAV filmed the 'aftermath of the strike' – the burning vehicle.
‘The customers of the crime in the Russian special services believed the provided video and paid the Ukrainian intelligence half a million dollars for the 'order', which will significantly strengthen the combat capabilities of the HUR special forces,’ the intelligence agency noted.
Recall that on December 27, 2025, RDK announced Kapustin's death during a combat mission in the Zaporizhia direction as a result of an FPV drone strike.
However, on January 1, 2026, it became known that the RDK commander was alive. In fact, the HUR conducted a complex special operation, staging his murder. The Russian special services, confident in a successful elimination, paid the Ukrainian side 500 thousand dollars. In addition to receiving funds, the intelligence was able to discover a network of customers and performers in Russia, and Kapustin himself, after his 'return to life,' officially confirmed his readiness for new combat missions.
This operation demonstrates the high level of training and ingenuity of the Ukrainian special forces, who managed not only to strike at the Russian special services but also to secure funding for their future actions. The staging of Kapustin's death was a powerful informational strike, and now his return to active duties only underscores the effectiveness of such strategies in modern combat conditions.
