According to ТСН: Broken windows, burned cars, and ruined facades – Kyiv is recovering after yet another night attack. While rescuers are working in Shulyavka, eliminating the aftermath of a drone strike, residents of the Dnipro district have been battling the cold in their homes for four days following the missile strike on January 9.

TSN correspondent Alina Lisova visited the affected cities to find out how people are living in shattered homes.

Solomyanskyi district: destroyed yards and ruined civilian buildings

The evening drone attack by the Shahed caused further destruction in the Solomyanskyi district. One of the drones struck a civilian building, causing a large fire that rescuers struggled to contain for several hours.

In another part of the district, debris fell into the courtyard of apartment buildings, destroying more than ten cars and shattering windows in residents' homes.

Dnipro district: plywood windows and +12 degrees in apartments

In the residential complex of the Dnipro district, which was hit by the missile attack, people are independently cleaning up the area and covering the windows with plywood.

A resident of the building: 'My window was blown out. When it hit, I ran to the bathroom, and fragments hit the washing machine, got stuck there. Heating came on the same day, but the electricity is bad, there’s water.'

Despite the restoration of utilities, low temperatures in the apartments with film and plywood remain.

A resident of the building: 'We live a few entrances away, we were in the basement - we were lucky. We live on the 16th floor, and it's +12 degrees now, we're adapting somehow.'

The fourth day without heating

In neighboring buildings, conditions are even tougher. Some entrances have been without heating for four days, forcing families to 'barricade' themselves in one room to retain heat.

A father with a child: 'We live in the fourth entrance, the [explosion] was not felt so much, but the lack of heating is a problem. We wrap up, live in one room.'

Medicine on generators

Despite the destruction, Kyiv businesses and medical institutions are showing resilience. One of the private clinics, which had its windows broken, has already resumed patient care.

A clinic worker: 'We resumed work very quickly, our managers ordered everything. By 10 AM we were already 'sewing' [boarding up the windows]. We will wait for spring, but we can already accept patients. We are currently on a generator, on batteries… it works, but lasts for 5–6 hours.'

Massive drone and missile strikes have caused significant damage to Kyiv's infrastructure. The situation with restoring energy supply and heating on the left bank of the capital remains the most difficult.
