The government proposes to change the rules for granting deferments from military conscription to students and educators. The draft law is planned to be registered in the Verkhovna Rada, after which it will be considered by the parliament. This was announced on August 13 by Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.
How the rules for granting deferments will change
According to the proposal, deferments will be granted only to students who began their studies 'no later than the year they reach the maximum age for conscription for basic military service', study full-time or in a dual form, and within the normative time frame for obtaining education. These changes will affect both university students and those studying in vocational, technical, and pre-higher education institutions.
Regarding deferments for scientists and educators, if the changes are implemented, the right to them will be granted to scientific, scientific-pedagogical, and pedagogical workers who have a scientific degree or work in educational institutions or scientific organizations for no less than 0.75 of a position.
The changes made to the rules for granting deferments from military conscription to students and educators are aimed at balancing specific conditions for different categories of individuals. In particular, these changes may ease conditions for students and strengthen the role of scientists and educators in society.Read also
