The USA takes a 10% markup on weapons for Ukraine: details of the scheme from Bessent.
The United States sells weapons to Europeans with a 10% markup, and then resells them to Ukraine. This was stated by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent during a Fox News broadcast, according to FREEДОМ.
'We sell weapons to Europeans, who then sell them to Ukrainians. President Trump takes a 10% markup. Perhaps this 10% will cover the costs of military support,' Bessent explained.
The funds earned in this way may be partially directed towards air defense for Ukraine in the future.
Recall that in August, the USA and NATO countries launched a new weapon supply mechanism called the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). This entails the transfer of American weapons funded by voluntary contributions from allies.
It was previously reported that European partners will pay for a supply package for Ukraine amounting to over 1 billion dollars. Germany announced financing for the third large package of military equipment and ammunition for Ukraine under the new PURL program.
The post What markup does the USA sell weapons to Europeans for Ukraine, reported Bessent appeared first on Freedom.
Ukraine receives weapons through a complex supply system, where the USA sells weapons to Europeans with a markup that is then directed to Ukraine. This allows financial support for Ukrainian air defense, which is an important aspect in the context of the conflict in the east of the country.
