ISW analysts assessed the risks of escalation due to Russia's use of the 'Oreshnik' missile.
The use of the Russian 'Oreshnik' missile will not lead to escalation of the war - analysts
Based on research from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), it is claimed that Russia's use of the ballistic 'Oreshnik' missile will not lead to an increase in tension in the conflict.
According to the report, Vladimir Putin continues to praise this missile and threaten Ukraine with additional strikes. The President of Russia repeated his statements about the 'Oreshnik' during a meeting of the CSTO Security Council in Kazakhstan. This missile was already used by Russia to strike Dnipro on November 21.
Experts believe that such statements by Putin are part of a Russian government campaign aimed at threatening Ukraine and the West.
The Associated Press agency, in cooperation with the SBU, gained access to the wreckage of the 'Oreshnik' missile that Russia used to attack Ukraine. An analysis of these fragments is currently underway.
Putin stated that the 'Oreshnik' missile is a new development capable of hitting even the most protected facilities. The President of Russia added that this missile could have the power of nuclear weapons if several units are used simultaneously.
According to Reuters, the warheads of the 'Oreshnik' missile fired at Dnipro did not contain explosives.
