100,000 trees were cut down in the Amazon for the road to COP30 summit: what is known.
Destruction of trees in the Amazon
According to The Sun: Approximately 100,000 trees were cut down in the heart of the Amazon rainforest to pave the way for a road to the COP30 climate summit.
U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the organizers for cutting an eight-mile multi-lane highway through ancient forests to transport world leaders and climate activists to the event.
“This represents a grave threat to the Amazon and a serious contradiction to the climate goals we are trying to achieve,”Trump noted.
This event has sparked numerous discussions among environmental activists and the international community. Ecologists are concerned about the consequences that could impact the Amazon's ecosystem, known for its rich flora and fauna. Deforestation threatens not just nature but also the climate goals being discussed at the summit.
This move has become a topic of discussion as it calls into question the authenticity of world leaders' efforts to combat climate change. The question arises: can these leaders truly have an impact on improving the situation when such negative environmental decisions are being made.
