Ukraine's Strikes Are Causing the Kremlin to Lose Its Grip on Propagandists, ISW Finds.
Kremlin's Waning Control Over Its Propaganda Machine
According to UATV: According to a new assessment by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Kremlin is increasingly unable to control its own propagandists due to the effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes. These attacks have severely disrupted the logistics of the Russian armed forces. The ISW notes that active Ukrainian operations on the front lines are forcing Russian leadership to scramble for new ways to manage the information space.
Talks and Rising Internal Tensions
Vladimir Putin has acknowledged that during a recent summit in the United States, the parties only discussed potential compromises and signed no formal documents. This lack of tangible outcomes highlights not only the stalled nature of the talks but also the mounting domestic pressure linked to the war in Ukraine. As the conflict drags on, the gap between official narratives and battlefield realities is becoming harder to bridge.
The ISW report states,
“Putin is constructing this narrative of success on the battlefield to mask the internal tension Russia faces as a result of the Ukrainian long-range campaign.”This suggests that the Russian leadership is trying to paint a rosy picture of its military achievements to distract the public from problems caused by the conflict. Losing control over propagandists could undermine this strategy, as real events on the front continue to contradict official information.
The situation in Russia shows that military setbacks can have serious consequences not only for battlefield strategy but also for domestic politics. Growing internal strain could shift public sentiment and potentially alter the Kremlin's next moves. At the same time, successful actions by Ukrainian forces demonstrate their ability to reshape the regional balance of power, which could have long-term implications for the entire conflict.
