UN condemns bombing of the boarding school in Sudzha
The United Nations has condemned the alleged bombing by Russian aviation of a boarding school in Sudzha, Kursk region, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of civilians. This was reported by UN Secretary-General's spokesperson Stefan Dujarric at a briefing.
We condemn the recent fatal explosion at the boarding school where civilians were preparing for evacuation in the city of Sudzha, Kursk region, controlled by Ukraine.
Dujarric also emphasized that the UN condemns attacks on Ukrainian cities. The spokesperson stressed that international humanitarian law prohibits attacks against civilians and objects.
Any such attacks are unacceptable and must be stopped immediately.
On Saturday, February 1, Russian troops attacked the boarding school in Sudzha, Kursk region, resulting in the death of four people. 95 individuals were trapped under the rubble. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at the time of the attack, there were local residents preparing for evacuation in the building. The Russian side accused Ukraine of its own strike, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided evidence of a Russian war crime.
