Australia introduces free electricity: who will receive 3 hours every day.
According to inkorr.com: The Australian government is preparing to launch a large energy-saving program that will allow residents to receive three hours of free electricity daily using solar panels. Minister for Energy Chris Bowen shared these plans.
The program, called Solar Sharer, will start in 2026 in three regions, with further expansion across the country. Its main goal is to encourage consumers to use electricity during the times when the highest amount of solar energy is produced, especially during the daytime.
“People who use electricity during the free period will benefit directly, regardless of whether they have solar panels or rent accommodation,” Minister Bowen explained.
One of the conditions for participating in the program is having a smart meter. Users will be able to receive free electricity even if they do not have their own solar panels. This initiative also aims to reduce energy costs and improve the system for all consumers.
Minister Bowen's goals and the response from energy companies
The Minister for Energy is striving to ensure that by 2030, 82% of the electricity in the country comes from renewable sources. The Solar Sharer program will be an essential part of this strategy. At the same time, shares of the largest energy companies, including AGL Energy Ltd and Origin Energy Ltd, have already decreased by 3% in value due to this initiative.
The large amount of solar energy produced in Australia has led to lower prices and excessive demand for electricity. The Solar Sharer program aims to optimize energy consumption and promote the sustainable development of the country's energy sector.
Thus, the Australian government is preparing to launch the Solar Sharer program, which will allow citizens to receive free electricity from solar panels. The initiative is designed to encourage energy use during times of high generation and will be part of the strategy to achieve 82% renewable energy by 2030. This innovation is already impacting energy companies, which are feeling the effects of the program's implementation.
