During the night, at least 805 drones and dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles were launched, hitting 20 Ukrainian cities.
The situation in Kyiv
In Kyiv, the cabinet building was ablaze after the horrific attacks, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
He reported that the relentless attack began with drones and then continued with missile strikes.
This incident was the first case in the course of the war where the offices of the Ukrainian cabinet were hit.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko confirmed the attack, noting that the roof and upper floors of the government building were damaged 'due to enemy attacks.'
As a result of this brutal attack, multi-family homes and a kindergarten were also damaged.
Along with the mother, another person also died, and at least 18 people were injured.
Impressive images show plumes of smoke rising above the capital as rescue teams try to extinguish the fire.
“Such killings now, where real diplomacy could have long begun, are a deliberate crime and a continuation of the war,' stated Vladimir Zelensky in his statement.
He also added that the attacks were aimed at the regions of Odessa, Kremenchuk, Chmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia.
Russia also attacked Kryvyi Rih, Zelensky's hometown.
During the night, there were warnings in all regions of Ukraine.
NATO has scrambled allied fighter jets in Poland, near the Ukrainian border, and air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been put on 'maximum readiness.'
The operational commander of Warsaw stated in his statement: “These measures are preventive in nature and serve to protect the airspace and citizens, especially in areas near threats.'
Ukraine confirmed that it shot down or avoided 751 drones or missiles.
However, it was recognized that nine missiles and 56 attack drones hit 37 locations.
This brutal airstrike is taking place at a time when Putin continues his bloody war, with no intention of stopping, despite active peace negotiations that have taken place in recent weeks.

Putin's spokesperson also met with Chinese and North Korean leaders and warned the West of a possible 'evil snake' alliance.
Tkachenko, the head of the military administration of Kyiv, pointed out that Russia is 'deliberately and knowingly trying to hit civilian targets.'
This followed Putin's declaration that it was 'impossible' to conclude a peace treaty with Zelensky just days after the invitation to Moscow.
The tyranny had also warned British and NATO peacekeepers that they would be considered 'legitimate targets.'
This came less than 24 hours after Ukraine and its closest allies held a meeting of the 'Coalition of the Willing' in Paris to discuss the possibility of a peace settlement in the country.
Twenty-six countries confirmed their readiness to send troops to Ukraine if a lasting peace is established at home.
Although the peace negotiations seem to have stalled, Putin continues his large-scale attacks on Ukraine.
Military checkpoints stated on Friday that Russia intends to exhaust their stocks of drone interception missiles by February.
They added that Putin's troops consume these faster than they can be replenished.
Currently, Ukraine continues to attack Russian refineries almost daily, leading to rising fuel prices.

A child and two other individuals have lost their lives in the attacks
Smoke rose above the capital as firefighters tried to eliminate the consequences of the Russian bombings. Despite all efforts, the ramifications of such attacks are difficult to predict, and the human losses sadly reaffirm the fragility of the situation.
The situation remains concerning as the international community continues to monitor the developments, hoping for a swift resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
