The Blackpool authorities have submitted a request for permission to build both attractions. The upside-down house will be 23 feet tall and will be situated between the South Pier and the Sandcastle Waterworld. The spinning house, which will create the illusion of rotation, will be smaller — only 3.7 meters tall.

Such attractions are already well-known, as similar upside-down houses operate in Liverpool, Bournemouth, and Brighton. Visitors can take impressive photos that create the illusion of being on the ceiling.

According to the company's data, upside-down houses attract around 400,000 visitors annually.

Why This Matters for Blackpool

The site where the new attractions are planned was previously used for go-karting, and now the authorities hope to ensure a year-round influx of visitors with a 'minimal impact' on the local identity.

Blackpool has ambitious plans to become a thriving tourist destination. As part of the seafront redevelopment project 'Golden Mile,' £300 million has been allocated to create three new major indoor attractions, as well as new restaurants, bars, and tram and train stations.

A new attraction — the Aviktas slide in Blackpool's amusement park — is also planned to become 'the tallest of its kind' in the UK. Additionally, a beach protection project for Blackpool Sands is scheduled, with costs expected to rise to £57 million (compared to the previously planned £30 million). This involves creating 17 large stone walls along the coastline, with a height reaching 328 feet.

Blackpool's amusement park may receive even more attractionsAlamy Blackpool continues to actively work on enhancing its tourist offerings, attracting investments and developing infrastructure. The new attractions will add variety and could be a significant factor in increasing the resort's popularity among visitors from across the UK and the world. By changing its face, Blackpool aims to restore its reputation as one of the leading tourist destinations in the country.
