BMW introduces electronic revolution: iX3 debuts on Neue Klasse platform

According to Korrespondent.net: The company BMW has introduced the new iX3, which has become the first serial electric vehicle on the innovative Neue Klasse platform. This event, which took place at the Munich Motor Show, is of great significance for the brand, as the Neue Klasse family in the 1960-1970s laid the foundation for BMW's transformation into a global leader in premium car manufacturing.

Technical specifications of the novelty

The new iX3 is equipped with a dual-motor system with a power of 463 hp and a range of over 640 km. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes just 4.7 seconds, and the top speed reaches 210 km/h. Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, the crossover supports charging up to 400 kW, allowing for a 370 km range in just 10 minutes. For the first time, BMW also uses NACS (compatible with Tesla) connectors and offers bidirectional charging capabilities to power external devices.

Design and interior

The design of the new model combines modern elements with classic features of BMWs from the 1960s, such as thin vertical 'kidneys', characteristic lighting, and restrained proportions. Inside the model, the traditional instrument panel has been replaced by a wide band display showing speed and key data. The center console features a hexagonal touchscreen with the new Operating System X, while the classic iDrive controller, which accompanied BMW for over twenty years, is no longer used.

Electronics and technology

BMW has paid special attention to electronics. The iX3 has become the brand's first software-oriented vehicle, equipped with four 'super brains'. One of them, Heart of Joy, is responsible for vehicle dynamics, including transmission, suspension, brakes, and steering, providing more precise control. Another 'brain' manages driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane keeping. Thanks to the new architecture, the systems operate more smoothly, and even after driver intervention, they automatically 'take over' control.

Production and sales

Production of the BMW iX3 will begin at the new plant in Debrecen, Hungary. Sales in Europe are expected to start in the summer of 2026.

It should be noted that the prototype of the new iX3 was first presented in June.
