GPS malfunctions during the European Commission's plane landing
Problems with the GPS signal during the landing of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's plane in Bulgaria may be related to Russia's activities. However, this will not affect the European Union's position on supporting Ukraine. This was stated today, September 1, during a briefing in Brussels by European Commission spokesperson Arianna Podesta, as reported by the correspondent of the FREEДОМ channel in Europe.
'We have received information from Bulgarian authorities that, in their opinion, this happened due to gross interference from Russia. We, of course, are aware of and to some extent accustomed to the regular threats and intimidation that are an integral part of Russia's hostile behavior. Certainly, this will further strengthen our unwavering commitment to enhancing our defense capabilities and supporting Ukraine,' she noted.
Arianna Podesta also emphasized that the incident illustrates the importance of the European Commission President's mission in the border countries.
'There she witnessed firsthand the daily challenges posed by threats from Russia and its proxies. And, of course, the EU will continue to invest in defense spending and Europe's military readiness. Especially after this incident,' the European Commission spokesperson stressed.
Let us remind you that Europe is focused on strengthening its defense and supporting Ukraine. This issue was discussed on August 30 during a statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Estonia.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges that Europe faces in terms of security. Interference from Russia continues to be a serious threat, and the European Union is determined to take further action to protect its interests and partners, including Ukraine. It is important for EU countries to demonstrate unity and readiness for collective action in response to external challenges in such situations.
