New Poll Shows Budanov Closing In on Zaluzhnyi's Trust Rating.
Trust Ratings for Kyrylo Budanov and Valerii Zaluzhnyi
According to Novyny.live: According to a January 2026 survey by KMIS, Kyrylo Budanov has significantly narrowed the gap in public trust with Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The poll shows Budanov's trust level at 70%, while Zaluzhnyi's stands at 72%. This shrinking margin suggests a notable rise in Budanov's popularity among the populace. These two figures are among Ukraine's most prominent wartime leaders, making their public standing a key political indicator.
Both officials share an identical trust-distrust balance of +51%, indicating substantial public support for each. While Zaluzhnyi remains the rating leader, the data highlights Budanov's growing appeal. Analysts note that his trust rating increased following his appointment as Head of the Office of the President, a factor likely influencing the poll's outcome.
Survey Methodology
The study, conducted via computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) from January 9 to 14, 2026, involved 601 respondents. The formal statistical margin of error does not exceed 5.3%, making the results representative of the population. This methodology confirms a clear trend of rising public backing for both figures, underscoring their significant roles in the nation's political landscape.
Budanov's rising trust level, particularly after his key appointment, reflects shifting public perceptions of political leadership. It suggests the populace is actively evaluating politicians' actions, initiatives, and their capacity to address national challenges. Consequently, the narrowing rating gap could influence future political dynamics and the strategic approaches of both leaders.
