There are no people in the team of US President Donald Trump who are hostile to Ukraine. Assistance to Kyiv corresponds to American national interests and the principle 'America first'.

This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with the Kyiv Post newspaper.

Attitude of Trump's team towards Ukraine

Budanov believes that there are no individuals in Trump's team who are hostile to Ukraine. On the contrary, some key representatives of the administration support increasing assistance to Kyiv.

'For Ukraine, the main thing is that there are no enemies of Ukraine in this team. Of course, there are people who are, to put it mildly, skeptical about the assistance provided to us. But there are those who believe that such assistance is clearly insufficient. In this sense, we can primarily name US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy of the US President Keith Kellogg. Their position is absolutely unambiguous – assistance to Ukraine is in the realm of American national interests. Therefore, it must continue and increase both quantitatively and qualitatively,'

The head of the GUR also noted the strategic role of Kellogg, who was an advisor to President Trump on national security during his first term.

'This position was born not yesterday. Keith Kellogg supported Ukraine even before the start of the full-scale invasion. He was the National Security Advisor to the US President during Donald Trump's first term, and even then he was one of the 'hawks' in the Republican Party who advocated a tough stance against Russia and Putin. After the full-scale invasion began, he repeatedly criticized the previous administration for indecisiveness and the constant fear of crossing Putin's mythical 'red lines'. He clearly stated that the US must be leaders in achieving a just peace. He emphasized that Ukraine needs to provide modern weapons to organize not only effective defense but also conduct counter-offensives. In this regard, he has a completely unambiguous position,'

Budanov stressed that assistance to Ukraine corresponds to American national interests and the principle 'America first'.

'In the end, we have a common enemy. And for America today, it is important to strategically weaken Russia without deploying its own troops. I have never lost optimism on this issue. America is our friend. Yes, our relations are not always simple. But in the end, we always come to a common denominator,'

Earlier, GUR head Kyrylo Budanov informed US Special Envoy Keith Kellogg about Russia's long-term plans until 2036, as well as expressed the likelihood of a ceasefire in 2025.

A representative of Ukrainian military intelligence emphasized that President Trump's team does not have hostile attitudes towards Ukraine, and assistance to Kyiv is important for American interests in the strategic confrontation with Russia. Kellogg showed his support for Ukraine even before the conflict in the east of the country and advocated for increasing assistance to the Ukrainian military.
