He was like a father to the soldiers. Remembering Captain Serhii Nikitin.
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Serhii Nikitin.
On October 7, 2024, Captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Nikitin died in the hospital from wounds received during hostilities, reported Rivne City Council.
Serhii Nikitin was born on October 16, 1974, in Rivne. He graduated from Rivne Lyceum No. 15, then the Ukrainian State Academy of Water Management with a specialty in "Mechanization of Hydromelioration Works," and later the Kyiv Institute of Intellectual Property and Law. He worked as an expert at "Ekspert-Rivne," "Autohuma-Service," and the "Kamaz-Trans-Service" company.
According to the protector’s father, Valeriy Nikitin, in 2015, his son Serhii was mobilized for service in the anti-terrorist operation zone. For a year, he served as a commander of an engineering company, discharged in 2016. By the beginning of March 2024, he voluntarily rejoined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, again in an engineering company, and received the rank of captain.
"He took great care of the soldiers, was really like a father to them, looked after them, and they greatly respected Serhii," says the warrior's father.
Throughout his service, Serhii received multiple awards: the President’s distinction for participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, the President’s distinction "For the Defense of Ukraine," and the "Military Honor Cross" badge, presented by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.
Serhii Nikitin was honest and sincere. He was valued for this by soldiers and colleagues.
The defender loved his parents and two already adult daughters and had plans for life after the war ended.

"Glavkom" joins the moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died fighting for their Homeland. We remember those who perished at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles of remembrance and bowing our heads in grief during the national minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all the military, civilians, and children, all who died fighting against Russian occupiers and as a result of enemy forces' attacks on Ukrainian towns and villages.
