Economist: Why the Economic Crisis in Russia Won't Stop Putin.
According to ТСН: Russia finds itself in a difficult economic situation, yet this does not seem to deter Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin from continuing the war.
The Economic Situation in Russia
Economist Boris Kushniruk, head of the expert-analytical council of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, emphasizes that the duration of the war is costing the Russian economy far too much. And, although this is clearly impacting the economy, it is unlikely that Putin will decide to stop.
“Given that the budget and debt situation is very bad, he (Putin - ed.) will face the challenge: whether to continue the war. Unfortunately, I conclude that he will continue the war. Even if it drives the Russian economy into an even more catastrophic state,” the expert believes.
War Prospects
Earlier, Putin was urged not to rush to conclusions regarding the possible end of the war in Ukraine.
The situation in Russia indicates serious internal crises, however, the Kremlin's desire to continue military actions despite economic difficulties raises questions about the future not only of the Russian economy but also of regional security. Experts will closely monitor the decisions of the Russian leadership, which many believe refuses to take the realities of the war into account.
