The Death of Putin Will Not Lead to the Disintegration of Russia: Expert Explains Why.
According to ТСН: The death of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not lead to the Caucasus, Siberia, or the Far East escaping Moscow's control, as separatism in these regions currently appears almost impossible.
Expert Opinion
This position was expressed by the head of the analytical center "Business Capital" Vadim Denisenko in a comment to LIGA.net. In his opinion, the reason for the stability of Russian borders, even after a change in power, lies in the absence of a demand for separation both among the population and the local elites.
"The maximum that can be said is that in certain regions there will be a desire for some decentralization. They will seek to receive more money and more opportunities to manage it. This is the limit of what the Russian elite hopes for right now," said Vadim Denisenko.
The Situation at the Periphery
Denisenko also notes that regional elites will focus on events in the center. If the power issue in Moscow is resolved quickly, then there will be no uprisings in the periphery.
"If the situation in the center is resolved quickly enough, there will be no discussion of any regional uprisings. The maximum that can be said is that the regions may want a redistribution of funds. Currently, regions retain an average of 30-35% of the money earned. Of course, they would like to return to the situation where they had 50%. But this is the maximum of their desires," Denisenko emphasized.
Military Expert
It is worth noting that according to military expert Oleg zhdanova, the main goal of Russia's massive strikes on Ukraine remains unchanged — pressure on the civilian population, and the Russian Federation will continue this terror.
Earlier, it was reported that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is doing everything possible to exit the peace process and continue the war. However, in a geopolitical sense, Russia has already suffered defeat.
Even in the event of a change in power in Moscow, the current structure of Russian leadership and the sentiments of society remain resistant to radical changes. Experts' opinions indicate that the opportunities for regional self-governance and redistribution of resources are the only desires of local elites. The continuation of Russia's aggression in Ukraine indicates a certain impasse and an effort to maintain control over internal and external affairs.
