The Ministry of Defense revealed details about food in the Armed Forces of Ukraine: enhanced dry rations and 360 products

According to ТСН: The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reveals details about food organization in the Armed Forces, including a product catalog containing 360 items and calorie norms adapted to intense workloads. Hot meals in military units are organized three or four times a day, and an enhanced dry ration is provided for those military personnel who are performing combat tasks.

Organization of food in the Armed Forces

Food in the Armed Forces is based on a product catalog that includes 360 items: meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, cereals, pasta, spices, honey, chocolate, bakery products, and various drinks.

The assortment of the catalog meets the requirements of different categories of servicemen, including those who adhere to dietary norms according to halal or kosher laws, as well as those who refuse animal products.

Food procurement is organized by the State Logistics Operator based on requests from military units. The format of food depends on service conditions, the intensity of combat operations, and the type of training.

With three meals a day, hot dishes are served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while four meals include an additional breakfast or dinner for flight personnel, naval troops, and cadets.

Food for soldiers in canteens

Soldiers eat in stationary or field canteens. The food layout is formed taking into account the menu, seasonality, service conditions, the nature of the combat, and the preferences of the personnel. It is prepared weekly and contains a daily menu.

Typically, soldiers receive:

  • For breakfast and dinner: a side dish, a meat or fish dish, salads, bread, butter, tea or coffee.
  • For lunch: the first course (soup or borscht), a side dish, a meat or fish dish, salads, bread, compote or juice.
  • For second breakfast/second dinner: a side dish, a meat or fish dish, bread, drinks.
  • There may also be dairy products, various cuts, fruits, salads, berries, nuts, baked goods, desserts, carbonated drinks, and other additional products.

The daily energy norm for a serviceman is at least 3,500 kcal.

When hot food is not possible, soldiers receive dry rations – daily sets of products with various menus.

In the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the following are used:

  1. daily field set of products;
  2. enhanced daily field set of products.

The standard dry ration contains three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner:

  • ready-made second courses (cereals with meat, vegetables with meat in retort packaging);
  • biscuits;
  • crackers;
  • instant coffee, tea, sugar, honey, jam;
  • spices;
  • disposable spoons and napkins.

The energy value of such a set is 3,500 kcal.

Enhanced dry ration

For military personnel who perform combat tasks in difficult conditions, an enhanced dry ration has been developed, which includes:

  1. flame-free heaters for heating dishes without fire;
  2. additional products that increase calorie content to 4,100 kcal.

In particular:

  • for breakfast, dried fruits or apricots and chocolate are added;
  • for dinner – a meat dish (stew), instant coffee, and sugar;
