CNN: USA accelerates military aid to Ukraine ahead of change of power.

The Biden administration is ramping up weapons shipments to Ukraine in the final weeks of its tenure to strengthen Kyiv's position at the start of 2025.

According to CNN, citing a senior administration official, an announcement is expected soon about a new aid package worth 500 million dollars, which will include military equipment from U.S. stockpiles.

'The Defense Department is undertaking historic efforts to move massive amounts of weapons to Ukraine in the next five weeks,' the senior administration official said. 'Between today and mid-January, we will deliver hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, hundreds of armored vehicles, and other critically necessary capabilities to Ukraine.'

Coordination of interagency efforts to deliver weapons is led by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who in November directed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to 'accelerate' the supply of armored vehicles, missiles, and artillery to Ukraine on behalf of the President.

At the same time, former President Donald Trump sharply criticized the U.S. decision to allow Ukraine to use American weapons to strike Russia.

According to CNN, the biggest challenge for Ukraine right now is not the stockpile of weapons, but human resources, as the country is not mobilizing and training enough soldiers to fill its frontline units.
