Trial Over Viber Posts Results in Conviction
According to Novyny.live: A man from Kobyliaky, Poltava region, has been sentenced for sharing sensitive information on Viber about troop and police movements, which interfered with mobilization efforts. The defendant admitted his guilt during the court proceedings. He had posted details in a Viber chat group with over 4,225 members, compromising operational security.
The trial, held in Kobyliaky, found the man guilty under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court handed down a five-year prison sentence, though the maximum penalty for this offense is eight years. However, the judge decided to suspend the sentence, placing the convict on probation for one year instead of requiring him to serve time behind bars.
Additionally, the court ordered the confiscation of the defendant's mobile phone. This measure underscores the gravity of his actions and their impact on national security amid ongoing challenges.
