Prohibition to shoot down drones over Kyiv: why anti-aircraft defense is losing effectiveness.
Restrictions on the use of weapons over Kyiv
According to ТСН: A ban has been imposed on the use of certain types of weapons in the airspace over Kyiv, complicating its defense in adverse weather conditions.
This was stated by Viktor Gleba, an expert in public administration in urban planning, during an interview on 'Novyny.LIVE'.
“The Defense Council has prohibited shooting down 'Shaheeds' over the city of Kyiv. This is in effect and it is in effect today, at this moment,” emphasized Gleba.
The expert highlighted that due to this restriction, the main burden of repelling attacks falls on mobile fire groups, whose effectiveness largely depends on weather conditions.
Gleba noted that in adverse weather conditions, the effectiveness of gunfire against aerial targets significantly decreases.
“Only shooting groups are allowed, who in such snow, on such roads, have to chase 'Shaheeds' and shoot at what with a Browning? In such fog, in such weather,” the expert lamented.
In his opinion, the consequences of the attacks that Kyiv residents observe are 'buried' much deeper than just the technical aspects of the air defense operation.
Let us remind you that recently, the Russian army launched a combined strike on Ukraine's critical infrastructure facilities. The invaders used striking UAVs, sea and ground-based missiles, including medium-range ballistic weapons, focusing on a series of attacks in Kyiv Oblast.
This situation underscores the importance of adapting defense strategies in response to modern challenges. The restrictions on the use of special weapons complicate not only the defense of the capital but also increase risks for the civilian population. Experts are calling for a review of existing rules to ensure a more effective response to aerial threats.
