A Quiet Sea, But a New Danger

According to Novyny.live: Although no hostile ships are currently detected in the Black Sea, Russia has altered its approach, now relying heavily on aviation and drones. In recent days, the Odesa region has faced relentless drone strikes, causing severe damage across the area.

Intensive Drone Onslaught

On the night of April 2, the Odesa region was hit by a series of drone attacks that crippled port facilities. Warehouses, hangars, and administrative buildings were damaged. A massive fire broke out on site, engulfing containers filled with sunflower oil. To bring the blaze under control, 85 personnel and 21 pieces of equipment were deployed.

In the city of Chornomorsk, the strikes also damaged residential apartment buildings, setting a balcony and a gas pipe on fire. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.

These events highlight a new Russian military tactic, even as Moscow keeps up to 100 missiles ready in the Black Sea. Dmytro Pletenchuk commented:

'Today will probably set a record—I can't recall a time when the navy destroyed nearly 50 Shahed drones in a single day.'

This surge in attack intensity poses a growing threat to the region and its residents. The recent incidents underscore the urgent need for stronger security measures in the Odesa area and a heightened readiness to respond to the aggressor's evolving tactics.

The drone assaults on Odesa signal an escalation in the conflict and a shift in Russia's strategy, which could have serious implications for regional security. Given the scale of destruction, it is critical that local authorities and state agencies implement additional protective measures for infrastructure and civilians. Thanks to the swift response of firefighting teams, worse outcomes were avoided, but the danger persists, demanding constant vigilance and preparedness for potential new strikes.
