Phil Taylor talked about some changes in his lifestyleRexAfter he put darts on the shelf last year, Taylor focused on improving his health.
At 65 years old, he decided to take up cycling to strengthen his legs after hip surgery.
“I'm trying to take better care of my health. I cycle a lot.”
“I had surgery, I got a new hip, and the surgeon said: ‘Phil, I’ll tell you something important. Keep your legs in good shape, because when you’re over 60, if you fall and break your hip, it will be serious.’”
“I do cycling, and then I train with my friend Bobby Golding. He messages me every day! He played rugby for Wigan, St. Helens, Leeds, England, and Great Britain.”
“He’s 50, and he is in great shape. Now he’s getting me into weight lifting. I built a gym, put in a sauna, and I cycle in the morning.”
Taylor also admitted that he recently switched to a new diet that includes dishes from Spain.
“Usually for dinner, I have sourdough bread, avocado, a bit of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, tomatoes or poached eggs, and a little cheese.”

“I find it exciting, I enjoy it.”
“Last week I was in Spain, in the Marbella area, and one of the hosts said: ‘Phil, try this dish, we’re famous for it, it’s called pil pil.’ Have you had it?”
“It’s shrimp. I even bought special dishes for tapas now.”
“All you need to do is nicely pour olive oil, add garlic, put it on the heat until it starts bubbling, sauté the garlic a bit, add some paprika. I love cilantro, some people put mint, and then just throw in the shrimp.”
“Then, as your sauce turns red from the paprika, you sprinkle half a teaspoon, and then take bread and just dip it in.”
“Oh, friend, it’s exciting! Exciting. I’m telling you. You can add a little chili.”
Taylor also noted that his favorite athletes have always inspired him, even in his dietary choices.
“I’ve always taken cues from other athletes. I even did blood tests to eat according to my blood type.”
“My blood type is quite rare, it comes from Mongolia.”
“So if I eat rice in Chinese food, I don’t have stomach problems. But if I eat potatoes or bread, it causes issues.”
“I take my kitchen utensils when I go to hotels, my mattress, my pillow, and I learned all this from various athletes.”
Recently, Taylor confirmed that he believes he would win against star Luke Littler in an exciting exhibition.
“I think it would be a great game, a close game - but I think I would win. Don’t tell Littler…”AFP
Taylor, who has entered a new phase in his life, is actively taking care of his health and fitness. His transformation from player to amateur sportsman aims not only to recover after surgery but also to improve his quality of life. This experience also inspires many athletes to continue leading an active lifestyle after their careers.
Through his example, Taylor shows how important it is to stay active and maintain a healthy diet, even after finishing a sports career, which can serve as inspiration for others who aspire to keep their health at an appropriate level at any age.
