Toyota GR GT: debut of the new flagship sports car with a bi-turbo V8

According to Korrespondent.net: Toyota has unveiled its new flagship sports car - the GR GT. It is described as a 'race car adapted for the roads'. This novelty is the successor to the legendary models 2000GT and LFA and is an ambitious project by the Gazoo Racing division.

The sports car is equipped with a new bi-turbo V8, which is combined with an electric motor in the drivetrain. The power output is at least 640 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, although these figures could be even higher in the production version. All power is transmitted to the rear axle through a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

The development of the GR GT is based on a low center of gravity, minimal weight, and maximum structural rigidity. Toyota has created a fully aluminum frame for the first time, complemented by body panels made of carbon and aluminum. The target weight of the sports car does not exceed 1750 kg.

The aerodynamics and chassis of the model share many similarities with the racing car GR GT3, as both vehicles were developed in parallel. The sports car has received a strong suspension, massive carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and a wide rear profile with tires 325 mm in width. The overall height of the body is just 1194 mm. An aggressive aerodynamic body kit, deep side channels, and four exhaust pipes integrated into the rear diffuser emphasize the car's racing heritage.

The interior of the GR GT is also radically different from traditional Toyota models. It is a fully branded product of Gazoo Racing, driver-oriented, featuring Recaro bucket seats and a style closer to Lexus than to the mass models of the brand.

The GR GT will be an important step for Toyota in the sports car segment, demonstrating a new approach to design and technology. This car combines the traditions of racing heritage with innovations that can satisfy both professional racers and speed enthusiasts on the roads.
