U.S. Senate Delegation: Without Ukraine, Peace Negotiations Are Impossible.

Members of the U.S. Senate delegation who visited Kyiv stated that Ukraine and other European countries must be involved in any negotiations to end the Russian war.
'I don’t think we believe that a just peace can be achieved without the involvement and leadership of Ukraine, without the involvement of Europe. And I don’t believe that anything can be agreed upon behind Ukraine's back,' said Democratic Senator Michael Bennet.
The senators visited Kyiv as an urgent summit was taking place in Paris, where EU leaders were discussing enhancing defense and security guarantees for Ukraine. This came after the Trump administration announced separate negotiations with Russia regarding the cessation of the conflict.
'For Ukraine, it is important to be present at the negotiations. This was emphasized by President Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference. The bipartisan group in Congress supporting Ukraine believes that we will not achieve any ceasefires without compelling security guarantees. We remember what happened in 2014 when Russia invaded for the first Time, and we did not show enough resolve,' emphasized Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
The meeting of the U.S. and Russian delegations will take place on February 18 in Saudi Arabia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while in the United Arab Emirates, stated that there would be no Ukrainian delegation at these negotiations.
Republican Senator Thom Tillis supported Ukraine’s presence at the negotiations: 'Of course, Ukrainians must be at the negotiating table. Thousands of people have given their lives defending this country. Does anyone really think that the United States could reach an agreement without the involvement of a European nation that has been on the battlefield, that has suffered the most? Of course, they will be present and you will see this in the coming weeks and months.'
