Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2nd. This holiday originates from America and has a long history. In 1886, in the USA, a groundhog named Phil was pulled out of his burrow for the first time. Since then, this holiday has become traditional in many countries. Currently, the most famous groundhog is Punxsutawney Phil, who lives in the American state of Pennsylvania. This day is also associated with the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, which is celebrated in church on February 2nd. In Ukraine, there are also their own groundhogs that predict the weather. They live in Kharkiv and Kyiv. The Groundhog Day holiday is a separate occasion to gather with family and friends and spend time in nature. However, professional meteorologists note that the predictions made by groundhogs regarding the weather lack scientific basis. Therefore, this holiday also promotes environmental protection and draws attention to it.
