What functions do the engineering troops perform?

Today, amid war, Ukrainian engineering troops accompany units of all types and branches of troops. They perform the following tasks:

• engineering reconnaissance;
• construction of fortifications;
• creating engineering barriers;
• demining;
• preparing and maintaining troop routes;
• equipping and maintaining bridges;
• water purification and more.

Military engineers also help in countering reconnaissance and targeting enemy weapons.
