Mechanics named 10 cars that won't make it 100,000 km without serious breakdowns.
Some modern cars may not withstand and may even not reach 100,000 km without serious breakdowns, leaving the driver in an uncomfortable situation. This is reported by Motor Biscuit.
Experts claim that any Jeep is unlikely to cover the distance of 100,000 km without expensive repairs. Expected issues include suspension corrosion, steering problems, and electronic failures. Also, it is advisable to avoid used models with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (2011–2014).
Mercedes-Benz
In terms of durability, Mercedes-Benz does not always meet expectations. Major issues include air suspension (AIRMATIC), electronics, transmission, and oil leaks. These problems often occur before significant mileage is reached.
Audi (A4 and others)
Except for the elegant interior, Audis can turn into financial black holes after 160,000 km of mileage. Common failures include carbon buildup in the direct fuel injection system, DSG transmission problems, high oil consumption, and timing chain stretching.
General Motors
In 2020, some production car models scored below 30 out of 100 in the Consumer Reports rating. Recently, Chevrolet Tahoe, Silverado, and Escalade equipped with the 6.2-liter GM V8 L87 engine have suffered powertrain failures at low mileages, requiring expensive repairs.
According to the study, some car brands may have serious reliability issues at 100,000 km, so it is important to be careful when selecting a model and consider potential future repair costs.
