According to The Sun: I have lived in Dorset my whole life and want to share some hidden treasures that most tourists don't know about.

Dorset is famous for its popular spots like Durdle Door and the dingy beaches in Bournemouth and Sandbanks, especially in the summer.

Kimmeridge Bay

One of the hidden gems on Dorset's Jurassic Coast is Kimmeridge Bay. Here you can find fossils, sea urchins, coastal walks, and calm waters for swimming. There is even a waterfall on the beach, although in summer it usually remains a trickle.

Tyneham

Tyneham is known as Dorset's 'lost village' as it was abandoned during World War II when the area was taken over by the MOD for training. The village is open to visitors on selected weekends and public holidays, and there is a 1-mile route to the secret beach, Worbarrow Bay.

Studland Bay Beaches and Nature Reserve

Studland Bay offers pristine white sands with no crowds like Sandbanks. There is also a nature reserve behind the bay that is managed by the National Trust and is home to the mysterious Agglestone Rock.

Swanage Railway

Travel on a vintage steam train from Norden station to Swanage for a ride through the Purbeck hills. The train passes by the ruins of Corfe Castle, and you can enjoy the best views from the 'Devon Belle' Pullman observation carriage.

Charmouth Beach

West Charmouth beach is the perfect place to look for fossils on the Jurassic Coast. The pebble beaches here are less crowded compared to more popular spots like Lyme Regis.

Sculptures by the Lakes

Explore 26 acres of countryside with modern sculptures in the 'Sculptures by the Lakes' park. The place guarantees peace and quiet, limiting visitor numbers and not allowing children under 14 years old.

The Swannery at Abbotsbury

The Swannery at Abbotsbury is a sanctuary with over 600 mute swans. The best time to visit is May and June to see the newly hatched cygnets.

Dorset is not just about popular tourist attractions, but also a plethora of wonderful hidden places waiting for you. From discovering fossils on beaches to vintage train rides and enjoying cultural attractions, Dorset has something for everyone. Gryffindor! Visit these places on your next trip to this wonderful county.
