Massive attack on the energy system: Ukraine may face up to 22 hours without electricity

According to ТСН: Ukraine may find itself without electricity for a period of 20 to 22 hours in the event of a new massive attack on the energy infrastructure.

This alarming information was voiced by the head of the Utility Consumers Union, Oleg Popenko, in the program Day.LIVE. He noted that in the event of a missile strike from Russia, the country could end up in prolonged darkness. The reasons for this are not only the destruction of individual facilities but also the deliberate tactics of the enemy, which consist of breaking the unified energy system.

“Overall, 90% of Ukrainians suffer from outages… Getting used to outages is difficult, especially when water and heat disappear. Most Ukrainians are so poor that they cannot afford to install an inverter or charger. Massive missile strikes knock out large substations of 330 and 750 kV, which were not all protected after 4 years of war,” he noted.

Moreover, in one of the regions, emergency power outages were introduced in the context of shelling, which negatively affected the energy supply schedules.

In the capital, threats to heat supply and possible evacuation plans are also being considered in response to heightened risks.

The energy situation in Ukraine remains tense. In the event of new attacks, it is crucial for the population to be prepared for possible power outages. Experts urge caution and emphasize the need to follow safety rules, as winters in Ukraine can be harsh, and the absence of electricity complicates the lives of many people.
