According to ТСН: Australian doctor Philip Nitschke, known as the founder of Exit International, has introduced a new device related to the topic of assisted death. This time, it's a special collar that has sparked significant outrage in society.

Nitschke, often referred to as "Doctor Death," claims that the new device is the "next step" in the concept of choosing one's end of life. He asserts that his goal is to create a "reliable way" to carry out this choice without medical intervention.

Presentation and Reactions

The device was unveiled at a private event in the Netherlands. The doctor has actively promoted his invention on social media, describing it as a quick and effective option. This further intensified criticism from officials and ethics experts.

At the event, Nitschke explained that the device works "like a seatbelt in a car: when you press the button, you explode, lose consciousness, and die."

"It works cleverly by pressing on two important points on the neck, which does two things: it stops the blood flow to two vital arteries," he noted.

The 78-year-old doctor called this collar "an important development in the search for help at the end of life" and emphasized that it is "quick, reliable, without medication... and, importantly, without restrictions!"

Outrage in Society

This device, called Kairos Kollar, aims to "create a simple, reliable, and peaceful strategy for self-initiated death at a chosen time." However, the news has led to a frenzy on social media. Many users characterized it as "demonic," "shameful," and "inhumane." Particular outrage was triggered by the information that tickets to the event showcasing the device were sold out.

Critics highlighted concerns from the elderly who increasingly fear losing dignity and proper care in modern social care systems.

Legal Status and Further Actions

The controversy surrounding Nitschke has intensified after events in September 2024, when the first case of death using the Sarco capsule occurred in Switzerland. Following that, local authorities stated that any involvement in the application of such a device could lead to criminal liability. The Swiss Federal Minister of Health also emphasized that the use of similar developments is prohibited.

Despite this, Nitschke continues to promote his ideas. According to Dutch media, the new device is in the testing stage, and its supporters hope for possible approval by 2026.

The legal status of assisted suicide varies by country. For example, in the USA, this practice is permitted in 12 states and Washington D.C., while in other states, participation may result in criminal liability.

Nitschke previously spoke about the circumstances that drive people to seek solutions through his device.

This situation raises serious questions about the ethics and legality of assisted death, as well as society's responsibility to ensure proper care at the end of life. The discussion of these issues is becoming increasingly relevant as technology advances rapidly, and care must be taken when considering their use.
