According to law enforcement, a 17-year-old student of a local vocational college and her peer were recruited by Russians through Telegram channels, promising easy earnings. After recruitment, the minors received instructions from a curator in Russia and made explosives from available means, purchasing components in various stores for the sake of concealment.

'For maximum damage, they filled the explosives with nuts, and for remote detonation — equipped it with a mobile phone with remote access for Russian intelligence services. Then, the suspects placed the explosives according to coordinates they also received via messenger from the curator. At the site of the planned terrorist attack, agents hid a telephone camera, through which the occupiers tracked the arrival of victims at the location and activated the homemade explosive device'

The minors have been charged with a terrorist act, and a motion has been filed to the court for their detention. For this crime, they face life imprisonment with property confiscation. As a result of the explosion, one person was killed, and another was injured. The SBU had previously prevented a terrorist act in downtown Kyiv, arresting a woman who attempted to blow up a cafe.

As a result of the investigation, it became known that the two minors in Zhytomyr were involved in terrorist activities and preparing a terrorist act on behalf of Russia through social networks. This case is just one of many examples of how the occupying state tries to undermine stability and security in Ukraine through treacherous and criminal actions.
