Naftogaz received a record 500 million euros from the EBRD: how will it affect preparations for winter.
Naftogaz and EBRD signed an agreement for 500 million euros
Naftogaz together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed the largest agreement in Ukraine's history for the amount of 500 million euros for gas procurement. This was done without state guarantees, instead, the agreement is secured by guarantees from the European Union. This decision is aimed at strengthening the country's energy security ahead of winter.
The information was reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine .
Record loan for energy security
Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the agreement for gas procurement for the amount of 500 million euros is the largest EBRD project in Ukraine. This is the first agreement where the loan is provided under the guarantee of the European Union, not under Ukraine's guarantee. This approach will help reduce the financial burden on the budget and assist the country in preparing for the heating season.
According to Svyrydenko, this will ensure warmth and light in Ukrainian homes even in the toughest winter days.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that the main goal of Ukraine now is to achieve complete energy independence.
Earlier, Yulia Svyrydenko noted that young Ukrainians actively use mortgage programs, with the share of young borrowers being about 42% of all borrowers.
The signing of the agreement between Naftogaz and the EBRD for 500 million euros for gas procurement without state guarantees and with guarantees from the European Union is an important step towards strengthening Ukraine's energy security ahead of winter. This record loan will help provide warmth and light in Ukrainian homes during the most difficult periods and contribute to achieving the country's energy independence.Read also
