The former KMDA official misappropriated state funds
The former head of the department, along with accomplices, may be involved in the embezzlement of 75 million hryvnias intended for palliative care for severely ill individuals under the 'Care. Towards Kyivans' program. It has been established that instead of providing free medications, food, and services for the severely ill, half of the allocated budget funds were spent on the purchase and rental of elite property — specifically, premium-class cars and real estate. To mask the embezzlement, the individuals involved recorded these purchases as part of program assistance and entered false data into the reports. As part of the investigation, three representatives of local firms that were involved in legitimizing the stolen funds have also been detained. They were issuing fictitious services and handing cash to the scheme's organizers. Currently, the former official and three entrepreneurs have been notified of suspicion, facing up to 12 years of imprisonment with asset confiscation. The so-called 'shadow' curator of the department, who is currently hiding abroad, is also being held accountable.Earlier, a report of suspicion was announced against the director of an accountable KMDA sports school, who is accused of embezzling funds for the renovation of the facility. It has also become known that Mykola Povoroznyk might return to the position of deputy mayor after a high-profile scandal. Those suspected of embezzling 75 million hryvnias in social assistance, including the former director of the Department of Social and Veterans Policy of the KMDA, squandered funds intended for palliative care for severely ill individuals on luxury property instead of the assistance that they genuinely needed.Read also
