Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed the significance of open channels of dialogue between Ukraine and Russia for the quickest establishment of peace. This was reported by the Turkish leader's office.
Erdogan expressed his willingness to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin for direct negotiations, should they be willing.

During the meeting with Zelensky, the Turkish president discussed bilateral and regional issues, including the possibility of ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. Erdogan emphasized that resolving the conflict requires direct negotiations and reaching agreements on common principles to prevent new human casualties.
He also spoke of a 'historic opportunity' to start negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, expressing firm support for talks at both the technical level and the leadership level.
It should be noted that a delegation from Ukraine has gone to negotiations in Istanbul.
