EU offered an alternative to NATO for Europe's security.
The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola stated that the European Union should create its own security organization. She believes this should be a complement to NATO, not a competitor.
In her interview with elMundo, Metsola emphasized that the EU always needs to be stronger, more consistent, and more effective.
I say the same when it comes to creating, for example, a genuine security and defense union. A union that we have long demanded, which would complement NATO and not compete with the EU.
Metsola also stressed that the war in Ukraine, initiated by Russia, has created a very unstable situation in Europe. According to her, the EU must be ready for any changes, regardless of who becomes the president of the USA after the elections.
In January, we are expecting a new president, as well as a new administration, Senate, and Congress. These bodies will make decisions on financial assistance to Ukraine. I hope that we can continue to work together, - she added.
