Europeans are leaving X en masse: Musk's platform lost 11 million users.

According to Elon Musk's platform report, Europeans are leaving the social network X en masse.
In the past year, the number of users from Europe using the social network X has noticeably decreased. Since last August, the platform has lost 11 million European users, the largest losses occurring in France, Poland, and Germany. Currently, approximately 95 million European users remain on the platform, which is 10.5% less than last year. Lithuania and Luxembourg lost a quarter of their audience.
The overall criticism pertains to changes in platform rules, as well as support for right-wing political movements, which leads to the spread of misinformation and hate speech on the website.
As early as January of last year, Paris joined the list of accounts that left X after its acquisition. This list also includes Stephen King, the University of Leeds, and the newspaper The Guardian.
In 2023, the European Commission began an investigation into X's compliance with European laws regarding illegal content and fake news. In July of the same year, the platform was accused of violating legislation, but no penalties have been imposed on it yet.
Interestingly, Tesla has also experienced a loss of its audience in Europe recently. Electric vehicle sales dropped by more than 50% in January and February of this year.
Analysis:
The report shows that the social network X faces unfavorable conditions in the European market. The significant decrease in users indicates that many people have lost interest in this platform. Criticism regarding the spread of misinformation and hate speech, as well as changes in platform rules, are likely key reasons for such user outflow. A similar trend can be observed in the audience loss of Tesla, which may indicate general dissatisfaction among European consumers.
