The disappearance of the British sailor has raised concerns for the family

According to The Sun: The family of British sailor James 'Jemsy' Noonan, who went missing more than two weeks ago, is worried about possible 'bad intentions' regarding his disappearance. Jemsy was last seen during a night walk in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria on August 18.

One week after his disappearance, authorities found his yacht 50 miles offshore, with his dog Tumbleina left on board.

Jemsy's sister, Nikita Goddard, urged rescuers to continue the search:

“The more I hear, the more it points to bad intentions. Please continue the search. We can't say for sure that this isn't a case of falling overboard, but I just don't believe it was a case of falling overboard, I really don't.”

The Spanish police have received permission to track his phone and other electronic devices as part of the intensive search efforts.

Law enforcement has ramped up efforts to clarify the circumstances of his disappearance, obtaining a court order for geolocation of all devices he may have had with him.

It is known that Jemsy was traveling around the world at the time of his disappearance.

Circumstances of the sailor's disappearance

In the hours leading up to his disappearance, he was having fun at the Irish pub 'Paddy's Anchor'. Later, he purchased dinner at a local kebab shop, where his backpack was stolen.

Nikita also noted that Jemsy's passport was reported as 'lost or stolen' the next day.

“We know he had a drink, but as a family, we don't believe he would carelessly head out to sea at night. It doesn't make sense that he could have just fallen overboard, as this is extremely suspicious,”
she said.

After the yacht was found, with the dog on board, it was towed back to Arguineguín in southern Gran Canaria.

A representative of the Civil Guard reported that an investigation has been launched:

“We are investigating this case. Several lines of inquiry are being pursued.”

Jemsy had been on his solo journey for about five and a half months, planning to reach Brazil. Nikita also added that an alert signal related to his yacht was sent on August 24-25.

The dog found on board is currently in an animal shelter.

Jemsy's father has arrived on the island in search of any signs of his missing son. The Foreign Office has confirmed that it is 'providing support to the family of the British citizen who has been reported missing in Spain'.
